In my humble opinion, “Humans”, by far, are the best “worriers” on earth and I think this is true because our list of things to worry about seems to stretch into infinity.

  • We worry about our health; and if our doctor says we’re okay, we worry that maybe he/she missed something.
  • We always worry about money because its money…and we think we can never have enough of it.
  • We also worry about whether our job will still be there tomorrow and that promotion we need so badly…
  • We worry about our children and if they will grow up to be good adults…

We worry, we worry, and then we worry some more.

Guys, the reality is that most of the things we worry about will never happen, but we still worry about them anyway. So here is my question for you today…

What does all that worry say about your faith? Do you trust God to take care of you, or is that just lip service?

For you, and for me, I put together a list of 5 reasons why we should not worry in our daily walks. These points are taken directly from the Bible and in Christ’s own words to remind us of what God told us to do when we become anxious. So I give you…5 reasons why we should NOT worry.

Worrying is Inconsistent

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Matthew 6:25

If we can trust Jesus to provide us with our very life, then why can’t we trust Him to provide for our daily needs

It’s easy to give God control in areas of our lives that aren’t too dangerous or where failure won’t be too great for us to fix…but isn’t that just lack of faith anyway?

If we can trust and believe that He can handle the smaller things then there isn’t any reason not to believe He can’t handle EVERYTHING for us.

Worrying is Irrational

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26

If our Lord cares for the birds, will He not also care for us, since we are more valuable than they are?

I get the fear guys feel when we are riding too close to lifes guardrail knowing that if we lose control, even for just a moment, we may lose all or a part of what we have.

Answer…it is called faith for a reason. God places you into circumstances to find out what you will do when you are too close the edge. Will you crash or give up? Or will you TRUST HIM and let HIM provide for you?

Worry is ineffective

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:27

There are no such thing as worry points. We don’t become better men because we worry, we become worse. Even Christ asked the question whether we get better or add any time to our life if we worry? We do not…in fact, we will only make ourselves and the people around us, miserable.

Worrying is illogical

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30

If God dresses the lilies of the field even nicer than Solomon, can He not also clothe us? Trusting God means we trust Him to take care of us…period. We can’t both drive.

You can’t just trust Him some of the time and not the rest. Take your hands off of the wheel and let God steer your life and see where He takes you.

Worrying is irreligious – Matthew 6:31-32

When we worry, we act like those who don’t know God.

When we worry, it’s like putting handcuffs on God. We say we believe but then don’t trust Him enough to guide us through a touch patch? Here is some blunt truth, what do we show unbelievers about following Christ when at the first point of adversity, we take the reins back from Him and say, “I can do a better job”? Plain and simple, we show them our LACK of Faith.

One final thought about worry before we end today. When Christ spoke about worry, He just didn’t say “don’t worry” and then He was finished…NO…He also told us How NOT to worry as well which for me is helpful.

But, SEEK FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Luke 6:33-34

Honestly guys, that is all there is to this…seek HIM first, then trust Him, and watch Him work in your life. You will be amazed at what happens. Let me give you 2 more verses on trust:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.   (Proverbs 3:6-7 NKJV)

Until next time guys…
