I have often wondered why God allows or requires the Christian journey to be filled with pain, problems, unhappiness and sometimes misery. Why does God put so much emphasis on perseverance, striving for the prize and winning the race like it says in Phllipians 3:14, ” I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Why is the Christian walk a marathon and not a sprint?

I believe that all of the lessons and experiences learned through our lives or the “Iron sharpening iron” moments as mentioned in Proverbs 27:17, the falling down and getting back up, and most importantly, our ability to keep our eyes focused on Him in spite of the adversity set against us…The reason why the Christian walk is a marathon and NOT a sprint is because it ALL about the journey. God looks at how YOU handle the problems of this world…do you give up and walk away from what you are dealing with…or do you get back up and keep forging ahead…The ones that pick themselves up and keep their eyes on Him, those are the people that I firmly believe God has chosen to surround Himself with in eternity. Here is what we, the ones who have persevered, have to look forward to my friends:

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21: 3-5

If that doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will…
